Atlanta-born Summer Walker‘s trajectory continues to ascend with the soulful r&b singer making an appearance this week on NPR’s “Tiny Desk” series. The performance comes in support of her debut album, Over It, which set a streaming record following its launch for an r&b album by a woman.
In preparation for the appearance, Walker let it be known she had removed her signature long nails, the better to strum her Fender electric guitar for the opening number, “Session 32.” Her set list also included “Wasted,” “Girls Need Love,” “Riot” and “Playing Games.”
In a break between songs, the 23-year-old, who held a pink stuffed animal in her lap throughout the performance, admitted, “I’m really freaking excited to be here, but I have socially anxiety like a mother fucker. I’m freaked the hell out and sweating.”
