Jamaican-born reggae artist Koffee (real name Mikayla Simpson) last night (January 26, 2020) took home the 62nd Grammy Awards’ prize for best reggae album for “Rapture,” a five-song EP released in March of last year.
The 19-year-old Koffee has made history as both the first woman and youngest artist to win the award. In her acceptance speech, the ever-humble Koffee thanked her producers and added, “This award is for all of us. This one is for reggae. This one is for Jamaica.”
Additional nominees in the category included Julian Marley, Sly & Robbie, Steel Pulse and Third World.
