London-based designer Mimi Wade presented during London Fashion Week on Monday (February 17, 2020) with an energetic collection inspired by DC Comics character Harley Quinn, who is currently portrayed in the film Birds of Prey.
The film was produced Warner Brothers, which tapped the Central Saint Martins graduate to create a collection with Quinn as her muse.
When asked how she blended her own design aesthetic with the comic book character, Wade told Love magazine, “I take a lot of inspiration from old movies: Warner Brothers did Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, Rebel Without a Cause, Batman, The Wizard of Oz, Clockwork Orange and The Shining to name a few. I’m super influenced by movies and I actually created my own interpretation of the Warner Brothers logo which featured on prints in previous collections of mine.
