Twenty-year-old rapper Pop Smoke (real name Bashar Barakah Jackson) was shot and killed this morning (February 19, 2020) in a home invasion, which took place in his Hollywood Hills home. According to TMZ, the Brooklyn born rapper’s home was broken into by two masked men at 4:30 AM PST.
Pop Smoke was taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood where he was pronounced dead. The police haven’t yet arrested anyone involved in the crime.
Nicki Minaj reacted to the sad news on Instagram where she wrote, “The Bible tells us that jealousy is as cruel as the grave. Unbelievable. Rest In Peace, Pop.”
Minaj was featured on Pop Smoke’s break out hit “Welcome to the Party,” a single first released on April 23, 2019.
Pop Smoke last posted on Instagram yesterday with a post featuring three images of the rapper near and in a car with a set of Louis Vuitton luggage. In one image, he’s accompanied by a friend who’s holding a stack of cash. In the caption he wrote, “GET STRAIGHT PASSION💙ZIP HIM UP BAG EM♿️LOUIS V LOUIS V LOUIS V💧”
