While the impact of Covid-19 has mainly been a disaster for the restaurant business, it’s been a boon for food delivery services. According to Fox News, Uber Eats food delivery service in Canada and the United States has increased by 30 percent since mid-March when many governments began issuing shelter-in-place dictates. At the same time, restaurants have been signing up for Uber Eats services at rates 10 times higher than pre-Covid-19 levels.
Judging from the most popular food items for each of 35 U.S. states, people are using delivery services for comfort food favorites rather than attempting to eat healthy. Among 35 states, french fries in one form or another are the most popular delivery item in nine states. Meanwhile, meals containing chicken as the main agreement were the second most popular item, followed by noodlelicious Pad Thai.
