Tokyo-based accessory label Liquem has linked with artist Takashi Murakami on a 10-item capsule consisting of earrings, pins, a necklace and vinyl pouch.

Explaining his connection with Liquem designer Wakatsuki Madoka, Murakami explained, “For the past few years I have been making sneakers and clothing, and Yuichi Wakatsuki @wakamoon has been instrumental in coordinating my undertakings in this area. I feel quite indebted to him.

“His wife has an accessory brand named Liquem, which sells its products via Instagram Live once a week, and he told me the business was going extremely well. So I checked it out one day and saw her, under the pseudonym Wakasama @madoka.wakatsuki and hiding her face, introducing her various products. I found it really amusing and got intrigued, and that’s how we came to meet a year ago and started collaborating on a project.”

For the past few years I have been making sneakers and clothing, and Yuichi Wakatsuki @wakamoon has been instrumental in coordinating my undertakings in this area. I feel quite indebted to him. His wife has an accessory brand named Liquem @liquem.tokyo , which sells its products via Instagram Live once a week, and he told me the business was going extremely well. So I checked it out one day and saw her, under the pseudonym Wakasama @madoka.wakatsuki and hiding her face, introducing her various products. I found it really amusing and got intrigued, and that’s how we came to meet a year ago and started collaborating on a project. The brand has continued to do exceedingly well: Last summer, they opened a store along a busy street of Asakusa, a huge tourist area in Tokyo, and, that being a smashing success, ended up opening a store even in Laforet Harajuku, a popular fashion mall. Then, however, came the COVID-19 pandemic, andd the mall has temporarily closed. Any ordinary person would be discouraged by this turn of event, but not Wakasama. She has gone right on selling her products on Instagram. So we decided to go live on Instagram together the other day. And here’s the recording of it. translation @tabi_the_fat

One interesting detail, the items are packaged in paper bags rather than problematic plastic.

No sizing or pricing yet, but this capsule will launch on April 23rd on Calvin Klein's e-commerce site.
