Beyoncé surprise dropped a new single last night (May 20, 2020) titled “Black Parade.” The song is a celebration of Juneteenth, a holiday that takes place on June 19th. Started in Texas, the day commemorates the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States.
The song was announced on Beyoncé’s Instagram feed where she wrote, “Happy Juneteenth Weekend! I hope we continue to share joy and celebrate each other, even in the midst of struggle. Please continue to remember our beauty, strength and power.
According to beyonce.com, “Black Parade” benefits BeyGOOD’s Black Business Impact Fund, administered by the National Urban League, to support Black-owned small businesses in need.”
The song was released alongside a directory of black-owned businesses curated by stylist Zerina Akers and Instagram feed @black.owned.everything.
