And the rumors were true. Harlem-born musician Teyana Taylor and NBA player Iman Shumpert today (June 12, 2020) revealed they are expecting their second child together. The rumored pregnancy was made official in Taylor’s visual for “Wake up Love” featuring Shumpert and Junie, their first-born daughter.
Directed via Taylor’s production house, Spike Tee, the video is an ode to love and happiness. The dreamy visual shows the married couple in bed and so in love they’re literally floating. As the video draws to a close, their four-year old daughter joins them and hugs Taylor’s baby bump.
Having Junie make the big reveal is appropriate given she alluded to Taylor’s pregnancy in mid-May when she blurted out on an Instagram Live, “Mommy, let me kiss that baby.”
Reflecting on the pregnancy, Taylor told People, “We’re ready, and we’re very excited, Iman is super excited. Junie is ecstatic. I’m talking super ecstatic. Everybody is just excited. I can’t wait. I’ve got three more months left until we meet our little princess.”
“Wake Up Love” follows “Bare wit Me,” and “Made It” and is the third single from her upcoming album titled The Album.
