Designer Nicole McLaughlin, who’s built a huge following and a career as a design consultant through her clever upcycled shoe and apparel designs, has announced plans for a Crocs shoe collaboration.
McLaughlin is mainly known for making use of textile and accessories associated with sport and outdoor brands, however, she’s created plenty of items, like a bra made of two miniature fans, that are simply clever not to mention hilarious.
Clearly a gifted creative, McLaughlin has said part of her design ethos is rooting in promoting recycling and more sustainable manufacturing processes.
Formerly a graphic designer at Reebok, McLaughlin previously designed a 17-piece collection of one-off recylced shoes and apparel for the Boston-based athletic brand in September of last year. The effort with Crocs marks her first official shoe collaboration.
For the Crocs shoe, McLaughlin taps into her love of outdoor fashion with a black clog that’s fitted with a nylon shaft, providing the shoe with the look of an outdoor boot. Known for unanticipated details, McLaughlin adds visual appeal with a rolled-up, red paracord strapped to the toe, topped off with a hardhat light that’s positioned at the top of the clog.
As of now there hasn’t been an official announcement, though McLaughlin said to expect the launch in fall 2020.
