Harlem-born talk show host and DJ Kerwin Frost has announced plan for the first annual Kerwin Frost Telethon Supershow, a 12-hour variety show that will raise awareness about racial injustice.
Frost has set of goal of raising $5 million at the inaugural event through donations, corporate pledges, merchandise and an auction.
Funds will be donated to Colin Kaepernick‘s Know Your Rights Camp, whose mission is “to advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization and the creation of new systems that elevate the next generation of change leaders.”
Frost will host the event with special guest appearances from A-Trak, Anderson .Paak, A$AP Ferg, Beck, Buddy, DMC of Run DMC, Hip Hop Harry, Ian Isiah, Jaden Smith, JPEGMAFIA, Kehlani, Lil Nas X, Lil Yachty, Mac DeMarco, Major Lazer, Miguel, Sheck Wes, The Interrupters, Yo Gabba Gabba and more.
The telethon will stream live from The Berrics skatepark in downtown Los Angeles on TikTok LIVE, YouTube and Twitch, on Sunday, August 16th at 12:00 PM EST. Both TikTok and Adidas have provided sponsorship of the event. .
Cactus Plant Flea Market as led by Cynthia Lu has linked with Kerwin on a collection of merchandise for the event with all proceeds going to Know Your Rights Camp.
The collaboration will consist a blue sweatshirt and pink t-shirt featuring details of the telethon detailed with a raised textile for typography and a graphic of Frost’s lovely face. The Frost and Cactus Plant Flea Markets collaboration also includes a jumbo pencil engraved with the telethon name Know Your Rights Camp’s tagline: “Write 2 Higher Learning.”
In addition to merchandise, Frost will also be auctioning an array of special items described as “some of the most rare cultural artifacts in the world.” Those who want to make a donation may do so now at kftelethon.com.
