Niwot, Colorado-based Crocs has tapped Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny for its latest collaborative effort, a white glow-in-the-dark clog detailed with Jibbitz inspired by the 26-year-old entertainer. Bad Bunny as a brand collaborator makes sense because he’s known to wear the foam shoe brand during appearances and performances.
The effort is part of Crocs “Come as You Are” campaign, first launched in 2016 to celebrate individuals feeling comfortable in their shoes. “Come as You Are” ambassadors for 2020 are actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Yang Mi and Suzu Hirose, plus singers/actresses Zooey Deschanel and Kim Sejeong.
Commenting on the effort, Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) stated, “I believe in being honest and not limiting myself, which is also something that represents Crocs, and this is the message that I always want to be sure to send to my fans. As a longtime fan, creating my own design for Crocs was really fun. I hope to inspire others to have fun in their own ways with the personal style that makes them happy.”
Crocs global marketing director Heidi Colley added, “We are delighted when we have the opportunity to partner with people like Bad Bunny who have a genuine connection with the brand and embody the mantra Come As You Are. Inspired by his attitude and his bold style, the classic Bad Bunny clog will stand out during the day and will thrill at night with a touch of shine in the dark.”
Priced at $59.99, the shoe will launch at 12 PM EST on September 29, 2020 on crocs.com in the United States, Europe and China, plus finishline.com, and select Crocs Finish Line and Foot Locker stores.
