Fast-fashion retailer H&M has linked with Kangol on a collection of clothing and accesories featuring the brand’s famed kangaroo logo. The campaign for the collaboration stars London-based music creative Mabel, who designed two of the items included in the 31-piece assortment.
While rooted in Kangol’s history, the capsule speaks to current streetwear silhouette trends with silhouettes like an over-sized mock turtleneck sweater, jackets, belt bags and Kangol’s signature bucket cap.
In an interview with H&M, Mabel, who is the daughter of NehNeh Cherry, reflected on her history with Kangol. She explained, “I have so many memories of Kangol because I’m such a massive fan of ’90s r&b and hip hop. I remember seeing so many of my idols, both male and female, rocking Kangol.
“The brand is iconic, and it’s got such amazing heritage. Like all legendary streetwear, it’s immediately identifiable. That’s as true today as it ever was. You know when you see someone wearing a Kangol bucket hat, and I love that the bucket hat in this collaboration is as fresh as it ever was.”
H&M’s collaboration with Kango launches on September 17, 2020.
