With the worst of recent controversies seemingly receding, Houston-born Megan Thee Stallion (real name Megan Pete) puts the spotlight back on her music talents with the release of “Don’t Stop” featuring Young Thug (Jeffrey Williams). The song is the debut single from her as of yet untitled upcoming album.
The track was dropped with a video, a colorful visual themed on the darkly surreal fairytale Alice in Wonderland. The video was directed by Collin Tilley, who also directed Cardi B’s (real name Belcalis Almánzar) blockbuster “WAP” video featuring Megan.
Known for her love of cosplay, Megan makes the most of the visual’s fantasy theme, playing the part of Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, and Cheshire Cat. Meanwhile, Young Thug works through multiple costume changes including Edward Scissorhands, a reference to Johnny Depp, who played the role of Tarrant Hightopp (better known as the Mad Hatter) in Tim Burton’s 2010 version of the tale.
Megan’s fall is looking promising with news of eight BET Hip Hop Awards nominations. She will also be the musical guest for Saturday Night Live’s season 46 opening episode featuring Chris Rock as the show host.
