Paris-based designer Rick Owens peels back another layer on Moncler Genius‘ well received, ongoing collaborations with a collection taking on an edgier approach than prior efforts. Reflecting the label’s love of a monochromatic color story, the color scheme consists of black and metallic silver made tonal through an array of textile combinations.
First revealed in Milan in February as part of Moncler Genius group presentation, the collaborative collection has been described by Owens as based on already existent silhouettes and designed for himself and his wife, Michèle Lamy.
At the time of the presentation, Owens told Vogue designs were in large part underpinned by the every cozy bed duvet, “I was really thinking, If I’m going to do this, what would we wear? How can I make this as real as possible?
“I mean Michèle and I both love duvet. I rarely wear leather. Well, actually, I’m wearing a leather jumpsuit just because it’s very New Wave and it’s a little over the top. But, I mean duvet is the most sensible thing. It’s warm, light, and just crushes up. I mean, listen to me promoting duvet! But it’s true. It’s really what I wear all the time.”
Moncler Genius and Rick Owens’ collection is now available to purchase. Priced from $220 for over-the-knee socks up to $2,680 for an asymmetrical puffer, the collection is now available on rickowens.eu and moncler.eu.
