The sneaker resell community is notoriously male dominated but Snobette Sneaker Awards panelist SNKR Mami has managed to carve out a notable following as a Discord platform manager and reseller on multiple platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter) by putting in the work and simply running sh*t and running it well.

A woman making moves both literally and figuratively, Sneaker Mami currently resides in Los Angeles but at the moment is mulling a move back to New York.

Check out our exchange with SNKR Mami along with her top five picks for 2020 below.

Snobette: You run a popular Discord and YouTube sneaker channel, what’s the biggest change you’ve seen occur in resell over the past year?
SNKR Mami: “The biggest change I have seen in the sneaker community is that a lot more people are joining. It started as a smaller community and now has expanded to one that attracts many people and bigger companies.

“With shoes now, it seems like collaborations are the key for gaining hype. Nike and Adidas especially consistently collaborate with artists such as Travis Scott, Kanye West, and J Balvin. Even Crocs has had success doing a collaboration with Bad Bunny and Justin Bieber.

“Sneaker prices also seem very affected by TikTok. Many Air Jordan 1s shot up in price after some influencers on the platform wore the shoes.”

Snobette: What’s one silhouette have you been wearing heavy over the past month?
SNKR Mami: “The silhouette I have been wearing heavy this past month is the Air Jordan 1. Before this year, I hadn’t owned any personal Jordan 1s, but this year they grew on me.

“Since I’m stuck at home and usually only go out for groceries, I am wearing comfortable clothes and Jordan 1s, which pair great with hoodies, sweatpants, t-Shirts, etc. I have been wearing high and low 1s.”
