Stylist Zerina Akers steps out into the design world with the reveal of a collaboration with Keeyahri, a Miami-based shoe label directed by Keya Martin.
Offered in either black or white leather, the over-the-knee boot is made in Italy and features Keeyahri’s signature ribbon swirl metal heel, a design inspired by the Ribbon Chapel a building in Hiroshima, Japan. created by Hiroshi Nakamura.
The collaboration was initiated by Martin who was a fan of Akers’ work as a stylist. Martin, who launched her brand two years ago, explained to Vogue, I decided just to try and shoot my shot, so I reached out,” says Martin. “I’d been following Zerina for a while, and I knew that she’s fashion-forward, well-respected, and for the people.”
While the pandemic has certainly boosted the fortunes of multiple comfort brand, Akers thought the moment was right for something sexier.
Akers, who’s best known for her work with Beyoncé, explained, “Comfort is important, but I knew I wanted to create something that hadn’t been done before. I noticed that [Martin] didn’t have a boot within her collection and thought that creating one would be an interesting conversation.”
Sized from 6-12.5 and available in two calf widths, the boot is priced at $1,199, and is now available for pre-order on keeyahri.com. Boots are slated to ship in late February.
