Adidas Adds Women’s And Gender Neutral Sizing For Ivy Park ‘Icy Park’ Launch

February 11, 2021. 1 Comment

Adidas and Ivy Park have uploaded a new sizing guide for their third capsule, a collection titled “Icy Park” made up of clothing, shoes and apparel.

Refining the previous unisex approach to sizing, Adidas and Ivy Park’s website is now labeling garments as women’s or gender neutral with sizing described as “crafted with every shape and person in mind, the new collection features gender-fluid silhouettes with sizes ranging from XS-4XL.”

On a page designed to help the customer find the perfect fit, sizing is broken down into three women’s and two gender neutral categories accompanied by a description and sizing recommendations.

The shift reflects some of the difficulty brands run into when they unilaterally label all garments in a collection as unisex even when some of the silhouettes are built with a woman’s or man’s frame in mind.

In the case of Adidas and Ivy Park, there have been no shortage of complaints about how the garments are sized with customers finding the clothing either much bigger or smaller than anticipated.

The Icy Park collection is rolling out globally on adidas.com/ivypark and the Adidas app (be sure and check to see if you have early access!) on February 19, 2021. It will launch at partner retail accounts globally on February 20th.

Adidas.com February 19th launch timing by region is as follows:
North America: 4:00 PM EST
Latin America: 12:00 PM local time
Europe: 12:00 PM CET
Asia Pacific: 12:00 PM local time

Adidas and Ivy Park Sizing Recommendations

Adidas Ivy Park: Tight Fit

Women’s Tight Fit: Designed to accentuate the female form, this tight, compressive fit hugs every curve. Sizing recommendation: Order your usual women’s size for a compressive fit. For a slim fit that’s less compressive, size up.

Women’s Oversized: Crafted specifically for women, this oversized fit makes a statement with its loose and voluminous proportions. Sizing recommendation: Order your usual women’s size for the oversized look.

Adidas Ivy Park Gender Neutral Regular

General Neutral Regular: Created for every body, this genderless fit will be larger on women than on men. Sizing recommendation: Order your usual men’s size for a regular fit. For women, we recommend sizing down.

Adidas Ivy Park: Neutral Oversized

Gender Neutral Oversized: Oversized, genderless, and made for impact, this fit is large with volume throughout the sleeves and body. Sizing recommendation: Order your usual men’s size for the oversized look. For women, we recommend sizing down.

Barcelona-based Syndical Chamber designer Sergio C Barcelona-based Syndical Chamber designer Sergio Castaño Peña shockingly jumped on Jean Paul Gaultier's Ig post yesterday, to accuse JPG of copying his concept of a naked Trompe L’oeil dress.

On Twitter, outraged fashion lovers responded with multiple posts documenting "naked" looks designed by Gaultier dating back to the '90s.

Jumping in on the backlash, JPG's official Twitter account has been reposting tweets coming to his defense. We fully concur with one poster who wrote: "Jean Paul Gaultier is a founding father and it’s sad that the youth doesn’t know his immense impact."

p.s. I added additional blocks to JPG's post 'cause we don't have nudity lattitude like he does. Same reason I didn't post examples of his earlier work.
