Rihanna Visits Venice Beach In Avirex Varsity Jacket And Ambush Dunk Sneakers

Rihanna decided to mix it up with the people this week with a trip to Southern California’s famed Venice Beach on Monday (March 22, 2021). Accompanied by her besties, including Melissa Forde, Rihanna visited multiple shops, filmed locals and also bought a painting from a street vendor.

When asked for a selfie by a group of boys on bicycles outside of a store, she not only obliged but put her creative director talents to use by sitting astride one of their bikes for an even more memorable photo.

Filmed happily skipping from the walkways to the beach, Rihanna chopped it up with her friends and then took to a bicycle and rode off into the sunset, no doubt causing her bodyguards’ blood pressure to shoot up a few notches.

While leaving the beach, Rihanna spotted Oren Michaeli, who had performed as a dancer during her 2010 Last Girl on Earth tour. On Instagram, Michaeli posted an image from when he had introduced Rihanna to his first-born son during the tour’s stop Miami stop . During their brief meeting at Venice he was thrilled to be able to introduce her to his second son.

Reflecting on the chance meeting on Instagram, Michaeli wrote, “She straight up got out the car and took some pics with us she was so cool with my kids it was dope to see her and Mel again after all these years !! All I gotta say Rihanna is a real one!! Super humble human being since day one , still grounded and Solid.”

While the trip was a fun one, Rihanna’s ‘fit was of course on point. Dressed in head-to-toe leather, the Bajan beauty paired a black pair of leather pants with a two-tone Avirex varsity jacket. While Rihanna is an established fan of vintage, given the brand is planning to relaunch with a varsity bomber collection in fall 2021 it could be a jacket from the upcoming collection.

Finishing off the look, she wore a pair of Nike and Ambush’s black and white Dunk High sneakers, which launched in December of last year.

The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her care The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her career as a professional tennis player in the September issue of American Vogue.

In the cover story, which is a must read, Williams shares some thoughts on her evolution away from tennis and says,"Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia. I was one of those annoying women who adored being pregnant and was working until the day I had to report to the hospital—although things got super complicated on the other side. And I almost did do the impossible: A lot of people don’t realize that I was two months pregnant when I won the Australian Open in 2017."

The cover editorial was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who in 2020 became the first black woman to style a U.S. Vogue cover.

This cover was also one of the last projects hairstylist #LatishaChong worked on before she sadly passed away in July this year.

Make-up by Raisa Flowers, nails by Dawn Sterling, and photography by Luis Alberto Rodriguez.
