Milanese luxury label Bottega Veneta as lead by Daniel Lee showed a new collection in Berlin on Saturday at Berghain, a club known as the world capitol of Techno music. Titled Salon 02, the presentation was a continuation of the the Salon 01 show presented in October 2020, which featured a combination of men’s and women’s looks.
The Berlin event wasn’t announced in advance and only became known when images of attendees headed to the venue began popping up on social media. No photography was allowed inside the venue.
The super exclusive guest list, which appeared to be comprised primarily of music creatives and designers, included British rappers Skepta and Slowthai, Nigerian singer Burna Boy, Off-White and Louis Vuitton designer Virgil Abloh, designer Stefano Pilati, music creative Honey Dijon, producer Kwes Darko and principal America Ballet Theater dancer Robert Bolle among others.
Looks worn by guests were highlighted by a coordinated button-down top and flared pants detailed with a striped print. The same look, which was first shown as part of the October collection, was recently spotted on the social media accounts of Kylie Jenner and Michael B. Jordan
The scaled back approach follows the label’s decision early on in the year to remove its Instagram account, while swapping in a edited video of the December presentation which appeared months after the event and an online digital magazine, which made its debut in March.
The presentation at Berghain was followed by an after party at Berlin’s Soho house. The event took place despite lockdown beginning in November of last year that were caused by an uptick in COVID-19 cases. Given the strict nature of the lockdowns which include curfews in select areas with high rates of infection, there was a fair amount of pushback on social media over Bottega Veneta’s decision to hold as show and an after party.
