On the one-year anniversary (April 8, 2021) of Philly rapper Chynna Rogers‘s death at age 25, her family and team have dropped a new single titled “burnout.” The moody single was produced by by Pro Era’s Kirk Knight, who announced the song on Instagram where he wrote, “Miss you 3much sis 🐐🐐words could never Explain.”
The song was announced on her Instagram account with a message reading: “On the anniversary of Chynna passing, we are happy to present burnout, a song in her celebration. love Chynna’s family & team.”
Reflecting her affinity for darker themes, the lo-fi production combined with repetitious lyrics perfectly embody the mental and physical exhaustion resulting from the drudgery of everyday existence with Chynna stating “burnt out” over and over like a sledge hammer throughout the tune.
Chynna’s life was celebrated in Manhattan yesterday with a gathering held at John V. Lindsay East River Park from 4:00 PM until 8 PM EST.
