March is known for entering like a lion and leaving like a lamb but this year the formula was reversed with Olivio Rodrigo‘s ode to heartbreak “driver’s license” commanding the No. 1 spot on Billboard Hot 100’s chart the first two weeks of the month.
The song was finally bumped from its eight weeks on the top perch by Drake (real name Aubrey Graham) in week three, following by Cardi B (who Belcalis Almanzar), who loudly slammed the door on the month with “Up,” a raucous single providing the Bronx native with her fifth No. 1 single.
Meanwhile, March was filled with new releases with multiple singles by up-and-coming music creatives showing lots of promise. Snobette Sounds best music by women in March includes singles by or featuring Coi Leray, Mulatto, Raiche, Chika, Princess Nokia, Tempest, Mahalia, Rico Nasty, Feather, Tiana Major9, Bree Runway, UMI, Jean Deaux, Maeta, Lola Young, Muni Long, Jorja Smith, ENNY and Symone Royale.
