Designer Tega Akinola Makes Magic With Reworked Nike And Patagonia Bags

London-based designer Tega Akinola has worked her magic on a capsule of top-handle bags making use of reworked bags reupholstered with Nike and Patagonia fleece textiles.

In addition to bags, Akinola also is known for reworking shoes and is selling a slingback and four mule silhouettes artfully wrapped or detailed with white Apple iPhone charger cable.

We interviewed Akinola when she first made a splash on Instagram in 2020 with a dress shoe reworked with white Nike socks. She followed with a Nike Air Force 1 sneaker wrapped with an iPhone charger cable.

Akinola’s Nike and Patagonia bags range in priced from $180-$223, while shoes are priced at $375. All items launch on apoc-store.com on April 27, 2021.

Versace and Jimmy Choo are officially up for sale after the Federal Trade Commission blocked Tapestry's acquisition of Capri Holdings, the parent company of both brands as well as Michael Kors.

The sale raises questions about Donatella Versace's future with the label. She has served as its creative director since 1997, following the tragic murder of her brother, Gianni Versace. According to WWD, Donatella’s contract is set to expire in February, and it remains unclear whether she or Versace will renew the agreement. When contacted, representatives for Versace declined to comment.

Versace’s first-half year revenues fell 22% to $420 million, while Jimmy Choo’s revenues slipped less than 1%, reaching $313 million.

In 2018, Donatella sold Versace to Michael Kors Holdings for $2.1 billion. The company later rebranded as Capri Holdings.
