Supreme has confirmed long-rumored plans for a collaborative Pucci collection, a 15-piece capsule that will include a box logo t-shirt, smoking jacket, hooded jacket, polo shirt, rayon button down, sweatpants and shorts plus a belt, six-panel cap, sunglasses and Zippo. While Pucci is largely known as a women’s label, over the years it has offered menswear.
A much coveted label among vintage lovers for its signature colorful prints, Pucci was founded by Emilio Pucci in Milan in 1947. Following Pucci’s death in 1992, his daughter, Laudomia Pucci, took over creative direction for the label. LVMH would go on to acquire 67 percent of Pucci in 2000. Pucci creative leads over the years include Christian Lacroix, Matthew Williamson and Peter Dundas who led the label from 2008-2015.
LVMH announced in March that it was repositioning the brand, an effort centered on closing multiple stores located in international cities, while opening news locations in resort cities such as Saint Tropez in France, Palm Beach and Miami in Florida and Portofino and Capri in Italy.
In a statement provided to WWD, the company noted, “Pucci has decided to evolve to adapt to the situation. This reorganization will allow Pucci to reshape its production facilities in line with its strategic and creative shift as well as its distribution network, to focus on best locations and to accelerate on e-commerce. Everyone is now focused on this new era for Pucci to achieve a creative and inspirational brand with a resort spirit and to bring the brand back on the path to success.”
Supreme and Pucci’s collaborative collection will launch at Supreme stores globally and online on June 10, 2021. The capsule will launch in Japan on June 12th.
