Normani fans finally have reason to rejoice, the 25-year-old r&b singer had made her musical return with “Wild Side,” a single featuring Cardi B (real name Belcalis Almánzar). The release of the track, which samples Aaliyah [Haughton]’s “One in a Million,” was foreshadowed on Normani [Hamilton]’s Instagram feed, which was wiped clean on Monday except for a single post teasing the single from back in February.
Commenting on the release, Cardi said, “I feel like this is Normani’s big comeback and I want you guys to treat it like it’s her birthday.”
Photographed by Jora Frantzis and styled by Kollin Carter, the single art for “Wild Side” shows Normani and Cardi sitting side by side with both sorting extra long tresses that cover their naked bodies. Mia Jackson, who’s professionally know as Tokyo Stylez, styled Cardi’s hair, while Yusef Williams, Rihanna‘s longtime stylist, worked his magic on Normani.
Fans have been frustrated by the singer’s sparse number of releases since her departure from all girl group Fifth Harmony in 2018. Thus far her discography includes just five singles: “Diamonds: ft. Megan thee Stallion, “Motivation,” “Dancing With a Stranger,” a duet with Sam Smith, “Waves” featuring 6LACK and “Love Lies” with Khalid. Normani appeared in Cardi’s smash “WAP” single featuring Megan, but didn’t sing.
Normani hasn’t yet provided official date for her first full length project.
