The Coalition for the Homeless has announced this year’s lineup for 2021’s Artist Plate Project, a fundraiser with 45 artists who have provided artwork reproduced on a white plate. The fundraiser was done in collaboration with Prospect, a platform that partners with well-known creatives to create unique items priced to be more affordable than the artists’ original works of arts.
Included among the artists are Ai Weiwei, Alex Israel, Amy Sherald, Amy Sillman, Anne Collier, Austin Lee, Brian Calvin, Carmen Herrera, Cecily Brown, Christopher Wool, Derrick Adams, Ed Ruscha, Eddie Martinez, Emily Mae Smith, Ewa Juszkiewicz, George Condo, Helen Frankenthaler, Jack Whitten, James Rosenquist, Joel Mesler, Jonas Wood, Julian Opie, Katherine Bernhardt, KAWS, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Lawrence Weiner, Lisa Yuskavage, Loie Hollowell, Louise Bourgeois, Matthew Wong, Mickalene Thomas, Nick Cave, Nicolas Party, Nicole Eisenman, Noah Davis, Robert Longo, Sarah Sze, The Haas Brothers, Tom Wesselmann, Urs Fischer, Virgil Abloh, Wade Guyton, Wangechi Mutu and Yoshitomo Nara.
According to press, the purchase of a single can provide a meal for up to 100 homeless or low-income New Yorkers. Last year, the fundraiser raised over $1.5 million with many of the plates selling out shortly after they were launched.
Priced at $195 for each plate from an edition of 250, the plates will open to the public at 10:00 AM EST on November 16, 2021 on artwareeditions.com. Each plate will have a purchase limit of eight per customer, with the exception of Ed Ruscha, Virgil Abloh, KAWS and Yoshitomo Nara, all of which will have a purchase limit of one plate per customer. Orders will begin shipping in January 2022.
