While Louis Vuitton‘s Miami presentation titled “Virgil Was Here” was viewed as representing designer Virgil Abloh‘s last effort with the label, it’s been revealed that his final collection will take place during Paris Fashion Week Men’s, which runs from January 18-23, 2022. The news was confirmed in reporting by Vogue Business.
The precise date of the presentation along with all other menswear physical and digital events will be released by the French federation sometime next week.
Shortly after Abloh died of cancer at age 41, Louis Vuitton CEO Michael Burke confirmed that the fall 2022 collection had been 95 percent completed at the time of his death. In an interview with WWD, Burke explained, “The January [Louis Vuitton] show is 95 percent complete, so it’s really June. Virgil was very organized, although he was capable of immense changes all the way through the last minute. He was very demanding; beneath this jovial, very genial demeanor he was very demanding.”
Louis Vuitton recently revealed looks from the label’s pre-fall 2022 collection, whose design and direction was completed before Abloh passed away. Multiple items in the collection include fil coupe, jacquard, and embroidery details, which were designed by Ghusto Leon, a Milan-based tattoo artist
