British-Trinidadian designer Maximilian Davis has been appointed to the role of creative director for Italy-based Ferragamo. Davis since 2020 has been leading his own label Maximilian, which debuted at Lulu Kennedy’s Fashion East presentation. The label was quickly adopted by the likes of Rihanna, Dua Lipa and A$AP Rocky with wholesale accounts including Ssense, Matches Fashion and Fartfetch.
An alum of the London College of Fashion, Davis was shortlisted for the LVMH Prize earlier this month and withdrew, perhaps because of negotiations with Ferragamo. On Instagram the 26-year old designer expressed his thoughts on his new role saying,” I am deeply honored to be joining Ferragamo, and grateful for the opportunity to build on the rich and profound heritage of the house. Ferragamo represents a dedication to timeless elegance and sophistication that I find incredibly inspiring. I’m looking forward to articulating my vision, elevated by the codes of Italian craftsmanship, quality and innovation.”
According to multiple fashion news outlets, Davis will cease operations of his Maximilian label to focus on Ferragamo.
