Doja Cat fans can breath a little easier this week. The Grammy-nominated music creative took to Tiktok Live yesterday (April 2, 2022) where she appeared to ever-so-slightly walk back her declaration on Twitter that she would be ending her music career once all her near term obligations were met.
In response to a follower who asked, “Why are you not making song anymore?” Doja responded, “It’s been like 10 minutes since I said that I quit. I guess that quit means I’m never doing something again, but I don’t speak…English isn’t my first language, neither is any other language. I don’t speak any language well. So, I just mean that I’m gone, I quit. It doesn’t mean that I quit, but I f*cking quit. F*cking, I quit. You see what what I’m saying? I’m saying it in a different way. You know. You know what I mean.”

Doja first announced she was leaving the music industry on Twitter in response to a fall out with fans following the Asunciónico Festival in Paraguay last Tuesday (March 22, 2022). The performance was canceled because of high winds and heavy rain, setting up hazardous conditions.
Following the cancelled event, fans gathered outside of her hotel, and became upset when she didn’t make an appearance. As the news gathered steam, Doja responded on Twitter where she wrote, “This sh*t ain’t for me so I’m out. Y’all take care.”
Providing additional details on March 27th, Doja noted she would finish out all of her contractual obligations, including completing on The Weeknd’s upcoming “After Hours til Dawn” tour, which will begin in July and run through September.
“For those who are seeing me at the after hours tour, i’m not bailing,” Doja said in a tweet that has since been deleted. “But me not bailing doesn’t mean my ass isn’t gonna disappear right after. i still got shit i gotta do. and a lot of y’all think cuz i post a fuckin picture it means i’m not out. Pic doesn’t = music GOOFY.”
As recently as March 28th, Doja Cat addressed a Florida radio station MIX 105.1 tweet, which said, “Ok so maybe @DojaCat isn’t retiring,” to which Doja replied, “Yes the f*ck I am.”
