It looks like the rumors are true. Twenty years after the concept was teased, Nike and Hello Kitty‘s Air Presto sneaker collab finally will be officially released to the public. While the 2022 version of the shoe (style code: DV3770-400) is very similar the 2004 prototypes, there are some minor graphic differences. First, the white and university blue colorway is brand new plus the shoe’s upper is detailed with a repeat pattern of Hello Kitty’s head while the 2004 pair was adorned with Hello Kitty’s full body. Hello Kitty branding is also featured on the shoe’s heel and insole.
The coordinated box adds an exclamation point on the collab through an all-white box detailed with a bright blue Swoosh topped by a Hello Kitty’s signature red bow tie. In addition to the shoe, Nike and Hello Kitty will also release a t-shirt and basketball shorts.
When first shown in 2004, the collaboration was meant to be part of Sanrio‘s effort to celebrate Hello Kitty’s 30th anniversary. Offered in four different colorways, only about 12 pairs of each style were ever made.
Priced at $140, Nike and Hello Kitty’s Air Presto and accompanying apparel will launch in May 2022 on nike.com.
