Designer Joe Freshgoods highly anticipated New Balance “Inside Voices” shoe and clothing drop has been moved out from its original May 17, 2022 launch date. Set to launch through Instagram Shopping on May 17, 2022, the site was overwhelmed by demand, which crashed the check out process.
As of late, brands have turned to Instagram Shopping to release drops in an effort to thwart bots. In the case of Joe Freshgoods, Instagram clearly underestimated the amount of traffic Joe’s capsule would draw.
The “Inside Voices” capsule is centered by the New Balance 9060 sneaker offered in two colorways: penny cookie pink and baby shower blue colorway. Described as “the sight, sounds and feelings of growing up in a Black household,” apparel offerings include a varsity jacket, twill zip jacket, crewneck sweatshirt and sweatpants.
Multiple individuals expressed frustration with the drop on Twitter where Joe (whose real name is Joe Robinson) weighed in on what went wrong. In a series of tweets, the Chicago native wrote, “IG shop crashed sorry y’all they fixing it. Releasing sneakers is crazy cause it be thousands of people in my mentions daily telling me what they what do lol, it’s wild how the common ‘fan’ have no clue how any of this works.but anyways sorry for yesterday. I guess I broke IG shop, working on solutions now. updates soon.”
Rather than push through the issues, Joe hit the reset button and let everyone know the drop would be pushed out “a day or 2.” For those looking for updates on timing, Joe recommended subscribing to the brand’s email list.
Priced at $179.99, the New Balance 9060 in the penny cookie pink colorway is slated to launch on May 20, 2022, at 10:00 AM EST on newbalance.com.
