Sustainable media platform Futurevvorld is gearing up to open a vintage sneakers pop-up gallery at Extra Butter’s location in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan. Created with the desire to invigorate genuine appreciation for sneakers, “Mission Deadstock” will featuring an assortment of sneakers curated by creatives and entrepreneurs in the sneaker. art and entrepreneur space.
In an interview with WWD, Futurevvorld editor in chief Daniel Navetta shared his thoughts on the exhibition. He explained, “Before hype was king, I used to walk into stores in New York City like Classic Kicks, Clientele, Recon, DQM, and find stuff I’d never heard of and never seen. Those trips into the city were unforgettable journeys of discovery, not only of what sneakers I’d come home with, but of my own creative self-expression.
“Via ‘Mission Deadstock,’ I’m trying to revive that unique energy with this project and also make a point about environmental responsibility. Everyone is invited and we’ll make the whole project available digitally as well via a zine, so the world can experience this project.”
Mission Deadstock will take place on July 16th and 17th with a collection of sneakers curated by Sophia Chang, Anisa Dash, Jacques Slade, and Bimma Williams among others. There will also be a digital version of the exhibition.
