Denim Tears Previews Pyrex Vision Collab In Association With Virgil’s Brooklyn Museum Exhibit

Denim Tears by Tremaine Emory has previewed an upcoming collaboration with Pyrex Vision, a label founded by Virgil Abloh in 2012. In existence for just one year, the label for one collection famously printed the Pyrex Vision logo on deadstock Ralph Lauren rugby tops. Pyrex Vision garments were often detailed with No. 23, a tribute to Michael Jordan, who Abloh has long admired as a Chicago icon.

Preview images of a black hoodie and plaid top are printed with the combined logo Denim Vision and the No. 45, no doubt a reference to the uniform number Jordan wore when he returned to the NBA following a brief retirement. After just 23 games, Jordan reverted back to the No. 23.

The moment was referenced by Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter in a 2003 single titled “Encore,” in which he rapped, “When I come back like Jordan; Wearing the 4-5, it ain’t to play games with you; It’s to aim at you, probably maim you.”

While there’s no timing or pricing for the Denim Tears and Pyrex Vision collab, the caption said it was coming “soon” and also referenced the Brooklyn Museum where Abloh’s “Figures of Speech” exhibit is on display through January 2023. The exhibit includes archival Pyrex Vision pieces as well as campaign imagery.

Ambrosio and Tordini see the street as the most democratic of spaces, where life happens and fashion truly comes alive. In press with WWD Tordini shared, "We didn’t work over the past seven years thinking about how one day we would have hosted a runway show. That was never our priority, we worked to build the company."

Oozing of a certain cool, the brand is beloved by many fashion creatives, as Vogue noted attendees included Ferragamo’s Maximilian Davis, Gucci’s Sabato De Sarno, Jerry Lorenzo, Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini and DSquared designers Dean and Dan Caten, to name a few.
