Just two years in as creative director of Diesel, Glenn Martens has made multiple noteworthy fashion statements and revived the label’s reputation along the way. For spring 2023, the label’s Milan Fashion Week runway show was open to the public, with tickets distributed online. Staged in a 5,000-capacity arena where a Guinness World Record largest-ever inflatable sculpture took center stage, the runway show of 71 looks was a coherent mix of and cool apparel and accessories.
In press about the collections, Martens said, “I wanted to open Diesel up to the public, for people who may never have been to a fashion show before. They deserve a spectacle, so we’ve broken the record for the biggest inflatable sculpture in the world. It’s what I believe about the fashion and the state of mind – everybody can be part of Diesel.”
