Fear of God as lead by creative director Jerry Lorenzo, showed its eighth collection and its first official runway presentation on Wednesday (April 19, 2023) an event that included looks from the label’s long awaited collaboration with Adidas.
Held at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl, the show was attended by 4,000, a mix of brand fans and VIPs. Kanye ‘Ye” West was in attendance with Bianca Censori, his wife of four months. Given his very messy falling out with Adidas that lead to the severing of the brand’s partnership with Yeezy, Ye’s presence was noteworthy. It was also meaningful because Lorenzo worked with Ye for three years, a period that inclulded Yeezy Season 1.
Working off of the desert hues color palette that’s become a label signature, the runway included a total of 58 looks. Offerings were highlighted by voluminous wool coats, blazers, knits and trousers, along with statement-making fur coats, all very much in step with the quiet luxury trend that’s taken over the fashion landscape. Fear of God and Adidas collaborative shoes and apparel were mixed in throughout the presentation.
The event was opened with a performance by British singer/songwriter Sampha (who was featured on Ye’s single “Saint Pable”), while it was closed out with a performance by Pusha T, who was dressed in clothing and footwear from the Fear of God and Adidas collaboration. The runway soundtrack included Ninan Simone’s “Strange Fruit,” as well as Ye’s “Blood on the Leaves.”
