Dominique “Domo” Wells revealed her debut Dead Dirt clothing collection this past weekend at Somewhere, a boutique located in Washington, DC. Comprised of workwear customized with embroidered flowers and leaves, offerings draw inspiration from the inherent resilience of nature. The collection serves as a poignant reminder that, akin to watering a garden, self-care is essential for one’s personal growth and purposeful existence.
“Dead Dirt is not just a brand, it really represents me figuring my shit out, and creating through what I learn,” said Wells in a press release. “I can’t expect people to see in me what I don’t see in myself. And it doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to feel good to me. It’s scary but, owning what I’m doing and how I step into it, is important to me at this point and age.
“I want people to see these pieces and be reminded to focus more on how they wanna show up for themselves and be less distracted by noise. Which is hard, there are a lot of distractions, it’s easier to blame other things or people, but at the end of the day, you have to trust yourself because it’s all on you.”
