Cardi B has declared herself single, confirming she and her husband, former Migos rapper Offset (real name Kiari Cephus), have separated.
The Bronx-born 31-year-old rapper (real name Belcalis Almánzar Cephus) took to Instagram Live over the weekend where she let her fans know she’s been “single for a minute now.” Cardi noted that fans who watch her closely had already seen the signs, which included the couple unfollowing each other on Instagram in early December.
At the same time, she posted a statement on Instagram Stories, reading, “You know sometimes you just out grow relationships,” and followed with, “I’m tired of protecting peoples feelings…I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST.
On the live, she stated, “The last time I got on Live I kind of wanted to tell you guys, but I didn’t know how to tell you, so I changed my mind.”
Fans assumed Cardi’s declaration was spurred by Los Angeles rapper Blueface (real name Jonathan Porter) who alleged on X on that his ex-girlfriend Chrisean Rock had cheated with Offset on November 10, 2023, after attending the same party. Offset quoted the Tweet and denied any involvement with Chrisean.
Speaking to Blueface’s accusation on Live, Cardi said, “When it comes to today’s events, I don’t think it’s true. I don’t care to find out because I’ve been single for a minute now. I just don’t know how to tell the world, but I feel like today has been a sign.”
Cardi B and Offset, who have a daughter, Kulture, 5, and son, Wave, 2, have been married since September 2017. Cardi announced they were separating in 2018, taking to Instagram where she said they had “grown out of love,” adding, “We are really good friends and we are really good business partners, you know he’s always somebody that I run to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other, but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time.”
The couple ended up reconciling but two years later in September 2020, Cardi said she had filed for divorce, which was later called off.
Offset has long been plagued by rumors of infidelity, which Cardi herself acknowledged in a Tweet in January 2020: “No, it’s not right for a n*gga to cheat, but what you want me to do? Go f*ck me another n*gga? Start all over again and get cheated on again? This sh*t happens to everyone and I be too, you too…People handle they relationship different soo.”
