CEO and music creative Rihanna appeared at a recent event in Los Angeles, where she celebrated her Fenty by Puma Phatty Creeper launch. On the red carpet, she was asked an array of questions by a reporter for Complex, one of which delved into her preferred album of 2023.
Dressed in a striking lilac The Attico shearling coat paired with R13 jeans (according to Instagram account @rihannastyleguide), Rihanna (real name Rihanna Robyn Fenty) hesitated and responded, “Am I an album girl or am I a streaming single girl?” Answering her own query, she responded, “Unavailable” on repeat, that and ‘Mnike.” Ensuring there was no was misunderstanding about the song, she added, “It’s spelled M-N-I-K-E.”
“Unavailable” is a single by Nigerian singer Davido featuring South African producer Musa Keys that was released in May 2023. Rihanna’ appreciation for “Unavailable” was shared by many with the song sitting at No. 1 for five weeks on the U.K. Afrobeats Singles Chart meanwhile peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.
Her second selection, “Mnike,” is also an Afrobeats song by South African producer Tyler ICU and singer-songwriter Tumelo_za. The song peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s South Africa Songs Chart.
