London-based label Martine Rose presented fall 2024 during Paris Fashion Week Men’s with themes celebrating community, empowerment, and individual expression. Emphasize the transformative power of clothes, show nutes urged the audience to be present and celebrate the individuals who embody the collection.
The initial runway show was filmed in London on January 6th, was then shown in Paris on January 18th. In an interview with Vogue Rose shared her inspiration by saying, “I was sort of just deconstructing what I care about, and what I really think is important. Which is how clothes can make you feel transformed. I really think this is a message now: to make something that felt joyful. I always talk about community a lot. I thought well, let’s actually do a community show, let’s do something that feels collective and empowering and fun.”
Attendees were asked to put away their phones because, “I didn’t want the focus to be on anything other than that moment of transformation and pleasure. There’s always the problem that phones pull us away, distract us and remove us so much from from the situation we’re in. And I really wanted that everyone should be present, to just be here with us in this room celebrating these amazing people who have been transformed by clothes.”
The garments, spanned tailoring, sportswear, with draped constructions that invite versatility in styling. The collection explored unconventional techniques like built-in knots, reversible constructions, and hybridized pieces, reflecting a sense of mismatched authenticity. Fabrics draw inspiration from subcultural London, incorporating odd-colored moirés, shearling, and denim with nods to various eras and scenes. Overall, Martine Rose’s collection is a bold exploration of personal attitudes and character-building through fashion.
