Puma is set to make a splashy return in February to New York Fashion Week, an event that will center the revival of the Mostro, a sneaker originally introduced in 1999 and aptly named after the Italian word for “monster.” The event will also include a selection of custom and commercial pieces from the fall 2024 line, all designed to complement the Mostro, the star of the show.
Commenting on the event, Puma’s creative director Heiko Desens said, “With this show, we celebrate the return of one of our most unconventional low-profile icons. We aim not only to pay homage but also to hint at future Mostro design concepts, paving the way for the sneaker archive of tomorrow.”
The German sport brand’s presentation will take place on February 8th at the Park Avenue Armory, an event that takes place the night before the official kick off of New York Fashion Week, which runs from February 9-14.
Puma plans to transform the Armory space, employing a blend of light, music, projection and experiential elements all part of an effort to celebrate the Mostro. The show is described as an immersive experience that aims to “transport attendees into a realm that blurs the lines between humans and monsters.”
