Versace‘s sample sale held in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood ran into some people management issues on Wednesday (March 27, 2024). When doors opened, pushing and shoving alarmed the organizers who called the New York Police Department who shuttered the event.
Held by The Sample Sale Guys, who promised discounts of up to 70% off, the event was located at 125 West 18th Street. Doors opened at 9:00 AM EST to a lenghty line of approximately 1,000 people, some of whom begun lining up as early as 2:00 AM EST, according to independent journalist, Katie Smith, who is known for covering political protests.
While people in the line were mostly well behaved, there is some video capturing pushing and shoving as employees began letting people enter the building. Called by sample sale organizers, NYPD arrived at about noon and shut down the event. It was later reopened without indicent.
