Adidas has linked with Reverie by Caroline Hú on a Samba collaboration featuring five iterations of the red hot silhouette. Inspired by a recent collection, two of the silhouettes offered in black or royal blue are covered with dramatic layers of lace while the upper on remaining three pairs offered in black, peach or white are covered with panels of pleated silk.
In press on the capsule, the lace shoes are described as symbolizing “the subtle connections and overlap between individuals,” while the shearing satin style is “a reinterpretation of the handmade smocking technique” often featured in Hú’s designs.
The effort was facilitated by Clot designer Edison Chen, who has collaborated with Adidas through his brand and has also been task with selecting designers for partnerships. An up and coming designer who founded launched her label in 2019, Hú was a finalist for the LVMH Prize in 2019 and was the first designer awarded Business of Fashion‘s China Prize.
While pricing and sizing is not yet available, Adidas and Reverie by Caroline Hú’s Samba sneakers will launch on May 24, 2024 on the Adidas Confirmed App, juicestore.com and additional retailers.
