Fast-growing Swiss athletic shoe brand On is set to announce actress Zendaya as a collaborative partner, according to reporting by Puck News reporter Lauren Sherman. In her most recent update, Sherman wrote, “The Bulgari and Louis Vuitton ambassador is also linking up with On, the running shoe and lifestyle company, I hear. As for whether it’s a collaboration, a simple advertising campaign, or something entirely different, I don’t know, but they are partnering.”
During On’s recent earnings call, whose positive results drove an 18% increase in stock value, the brand delved into its collaborative capsule with FKA Twigs while alluding to another partnership with global resonance. “In the coming weeks, we are poised to announce a significant global partnership with an esteemed individual, bolstering our credibility and resonance within our target communities,” stated co-CEO Martin Hoffmann
Zendaya and her stylist Law Roach themselves hinted at the effort when the 27-year-old wore On tennis sneakers and a custom On tennis look (a recreation of a look worn by Black tennis player Althea Johnson) for her red carpet appearances promoting Challengers, a film in which she plays the role of a tennis coach.
As to how the connection came about, it’s hard not to guess a link was made through Loewe, a label with an ongoing collaboration partnership with On since 2022 and also one that Zendaya has worn for red carpet appearances for several years. For her Challengers tour alone, she wore a couple of Loeve looks including a custom high heel adorned with a tennis ball.
