SZA took to X on (June 29, 2024) where she released an untitled snippet, which she has said will be included as a full song on Lana (a reference to her real name Solána Rowe), her upcoming third studio album. Titled “Storytime,” the x-year-old singer presumably references an ex, singing, “I know you told stories about me, most of them awful, all of them true. Here’s some for you…”
In the 44 second snippet featured on SZA’s YouTube channel, she’s filmed in the midst of a field, naked and with her back to the camera. As she turns, the viewer sees not SZA’s face but a giant bug head, replete with antennas and large circular eyes.
SZA’s visuals for “Storytime” mirrored her new costumes and stage set up for the European leg of her SOS tour with the singer wearing a woodland nymph costume while performing on a green and leafy set that included a giant bug prop.
While performing in London on on the same day she released the “Storytime” snippet, the 34-year-old SZA shouted out, “New album, you ready?” though since then she hasn’t provided anymore details on launch timing for Lana. The album was originally meant to be a deluxe version of SOS, however, she announced in 2023 that she was rethinking the project as a stand-alone new album.
