French luxury label Chanel has launched the Première Sound watch—a modern twist on a classic timepiece, now attached to a long sautoir necklace and paired with a set of wired headphones. The debut of the watch was accompanied by a campaign starring actress Lily-Rose Depp.
The launch follows on the heels of label’s reissued its iconic Première Édition Originale watch eariler this year. Showcasing a sleek black lacquer dial, the watch features a chain bracelet reminiscent of the brand’s famed leather and chain link wove bag strap.
Originally launched in 1987, the Première has remained Chanel’s longest-standing bestseller. The watch’s case is inspired by the cap of the legendary No. 5 perfume bottle, which itself draws its design from the Place Vendôme, the historic square in Paris known for its luxury jewellers and high-end brands.
In its original incarnation, the Première was a minimalist masterpiece, featuring a quartz movement encased in an elongated octagon crafted from gold-plated steel. In 2022, Chanel revitalized this timeless model with the Première Édition Originale, which features the leather and chain link strap.
Priced at $16,000, Chanel’s Première Sound will be available starting September 2, 2024 at select Chanel boutiques.
