Hillary Super has been announced as the new CEO of Victoria’s Secret. She steps into the role after just over a year as CEO of Savage X Fenty, where she led the brand in its first foray into wholesale. Super is set to begin leading the company on September 9, 2024. She replaces Martin Waters, who has stepped down from his role as CEO and the board. Victoria’s Secret’s stock popped on the news.
Prior to Savage X Fenty, Super was the global CEO of Anthropologie Group, which includes Anthropologie, Bhldn and Terrain brands. With a career spanning the retail industry, she has held roles at Guess, American Eagle, Gap, and Ann Taylor.
Weighing in on the change, Super said, “I am excited to join Victoria’s Secret, the market leader in the domestic intimates category. The strength of these iconic brands, supplemented by an incredible beauty business, provides numerous opportunities for future growth. I look forward to working with [Victoria Secret’s board chairperson] Donna [James] and the rest of the board and management team to make Victoria’s Secret the world’s leading fashion retailer of intimate apparel, rapidly expand our cultural influence, and create a dominant global market position to grow shareholder value.”
Praising Super’s reputation for delivering demand, James added, “Victoria Secret welcomes Hillary as our new CEO to power the business’ next chapter and deliver the foremost tenet of our transformation strategy: accelerating growth in our core business in North America.
“We are particularly impressed with her merchant leadership capabilities, paired with an operator’s discipline and a bias for driving value creation. She understands vertically integrated retail brands and has an intuitive grasp of the consumer landscape, informed by customer insights, which are critical for consistently delivering in this industry and its ever-accelerating fashion and economic cycles.”
