New York-based Willy Chavarria revealed a debut collaboration with Adidas as part of his spring 2025 collection. Presented during New York Fashion Week and titled “América,” the collection was part of an ongoing commentary by Chavarria on cultura contributions of Mexican Americans especially as visited through a Southern California lens. In an exchange following the show, Chavarria described the collection as “the new Chicano Ralph Lauren,” adding, “my clothes are for everyone.”
Willy Chavarria and Adidas Originals pieces included a track jacket, track pants, football jerseys, bodysuits and a sneaker silhouette featuring a tapered toe. Some of the pieces are emblazoned with the word “Jabbar,” a reference to NBA great Kareem Abdul Jabbar who Chavarria admire as a player and an advocate for equality.
Staged under an American flag with a booklet containing the U.S. Constitution placed at each seat, the show featured a diverse group of models, including Paloma Elsesser, Olympic sprinter Noah Lyles and NBA athlete Jerami Grant. As a nod to the upcoming presidential elections, guests of the show received “Willy Says Vote” stickers.
