The rumors are true! Jordan and Dior officially announced plans for a collaborative silhouette called the Air Jordan I High OG Dior. The shoe was produced in Italy by Dior and features a cream and grey leather upper, referencing a signature Dior color since its founding in 1947. The shoe’s Swoosh is embroidered with Dior’s Oblique motif, which is also laser etched into the insoles.
The shoe was revealed just prior to Dior’s first presentation on U.S. soil, a pre-fall 2020 menswear runway staged in Miami on the eve of Art Basel. Before the news of the Jordan effort, the collection was already garnering buzz through a collaboration with Shawn Stussy.
While the shoe is a first time collaboration between the two labels, there is more to come. According to WWD, “The Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior is the just the beginning for Dior and Jordan Brand. Although they declined to provide details, the two said that there is more to come.”
In a Nike press release, Dior menswear designer Kim Jones stated, “I love mixing together different worlds, different ideas and Jordan Brand and Maison Dior are both emblematic of absolute excellence in their fields. To bring them together in this special collaboration is to propose something exciting and truly new.”
The luxe AJ1 is slated launch at select Dior boutiques globally in April 2020,. As of now the pricing hasn’t been announced, however, when rumors of the shoe surfaced last month, the price was estimated as $2,000 with a total run of 1,000 shoes.
