Nike sportswear has announced plans for a collection of Air Force 1 high and low styles in monochromatic color schemes for five cities: London, Milan, New York, Paris, Tokyo and Shanghai. There are also color coordinated Benassi slides and outerwear capes, which Nike hasn’t yet revealed. Shoes launch on Nike.com on either 10/23 or 10/30, depending on the city. According to Nike press the shoes are detailed with city-specific maps:
A stylized street map is stitched onto the leather upper of each shoe, calling out specific attributes of the different city’s unique layout. A subtle circle on the maps calls out prominent Nike retail locations in the respective cities. For the sock liner, a geometric all-over print pattern highlights the iconic architecture characterizing the individual style capitols.
For London, the Nike Air Force 1 low is a version of British racing green. The Tokyo Nike Air Force 1 low reflects the vibrant red of the Japanese flag; Milan’s Air Force 1 low gives a nod to the yellow limonite ochre common in renaissance paintings. New York is the classic white-white Air Force 1 high, which has always been a mainstay in the City. For Paris, the high version will be a offered in a beautiful French blue. Finally, an antiqued red Air Force 1 high connects Shanghai to the tales of its lost dynasties.
