Frank Ocean released on his Tumblr last night a single called “You Are Luhh,” a cover of the song, “At Your Best (You are Loved),” sung almost entirely in falsetto. It follows the one-off single he dropped in late November last year called “Memrise.” Ocean has yet to announce firm plans for the release of his second album, which will follow the much-acclaimed Agent Orange, released in 2012.
Ocean’s version is probably at least in part a shout to Aaliyah, who would have turned 36 yesterday, and recorded her version of “At Your Best” in 1994. It was included on her first album, Age Aint Nothing But A Number. The song was originally recorded by the Isley Brothers in 1976. You can watch Aaliyah’s official video for the song that includes R.
