You can feel it in the air, the fashion winds are shifting. The walls that once existed between activewear, streetwear and high-fashion have begun to collapse, with each borrowing and taking inspiration from the other to create something entirely new. In a blended fashion world, three isn’t room for everyone, only the strong will survive. As for Stella McCartney‘s future, in particular AW16, let’s just say, she’s not new to this…. Having rubbed shoulders with Adidas all these years, the ability to morph and flex is part of her DNA. She speaks multiple fashion languages and blending them altogether in one very dope collection is a cinch, almost as though she was waiting for this opening so she could charge into it and claim not just ownership but total victory!
Things we especially adore: the Kanye-fied creepers; streetwear zippers used to details dresses/jumpsuits; the tulle-over-pant-slip dresses; and the leopard skirt/kitty cat top with chevron stripe (in our heads we imagine Solange seeing and LOVING all of these looks).
Also, note the slight of hand with the backdrops with models shot against a wood backdrop for sportier looks and a white one for femmier items.
The collection presented at Los Angeles’s Amoeba record store at an event whose guests included Mary J, Anthony Kiedes, Katy Perry and many more.
